Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB) and Romanian Association of Applied Meteorology and Education (ARMAE) are pleased to invite you to a new event on the topic “Weather, climate and society”.

This event is dedicated to the World Meteorological Day 2018 (Weather-Ready, Climate-Smart) and it will take place on the premises of the Research Platform in Biology and Systems Ecology (Splaiul Independenței, nr. 91-95, Bucharest), Tuesday 13 March 2018, 5:30 p.m.

Dr. Michal Žák (Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University & Czech Hydrometeorological Institute, Prague) is currently a Visiting Professor at the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest, and he will deliver lecture about “Characteristics of the Urban Heat Islands of Prague and Bucharest”.

Dr. Bogdan Antonescu (National Institute for Research and Development in Optoelectronics, Bucharest) holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Bucharest and in the recent years he was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Manchester. His presentation on “Societal and Economic Impact of Tornadoes and Lightning in Europe” is an extended overview of his last publications on the topic.
